The Gulf Superyacht Summit, held on 22-23 November at the Hilton Abu Dhabi, Yas Island, aimed to promote the Gulf as a premier winter destination for superyachts.
The event featured presentations, panel discussions and insights from industry experts and yacht captains on topics such as market trends, infrastructure development, regulatory challenges and innovative solutions.
One of the highlights of the summit was SuperYacht Times’ Gulf Superyacht Report, which revealed that the number of superyachts visiting the Gulf region has increased from 66 in 2017 to around 129 in 2022, based on AIS signals. The report predicts that this number could reach 175 by 2024, out of a potential market of 900 yachts in the region.

Indeed, the panel discussion highlighted the growing demand for new yacht agents throughout the Middle East. It also highlighted the critical need for professionals who are not only dedicated and committed, but also dynamic, specialised and reliable.
That’s why we anticipated this need and created Acquera Education, a programme that combines our extensive experience in the yachting industry with the importance of education and training to its future.
We aim to be the vital link that connects the yachting industry with local territories, institutions and businesses worldwide for cohesive development projects.
Education is a key pillar at Acquera, with a focus on internal professional training and up-and-coming employees through the industry’s first yachting academy. But we also want to share our passion and profession with all yachting enthusiasts and contribute to the development of the industry.
The Acquera Education programme consists of three main aspects:
- Continuous training of our company members
- Partnerships with universities such as Ca Foscari in Venice, where we have introduced courses on the world of yachting and the management of luxury clients.
- Acquera Academy, a programme for talents who want to learn Acquera management tools, luxury client approach methods and ad hoc yachting operational skills.
In its first year, our Academy has successfully introduced a wave of new talent to many Italian ports. We are pleased to announce that from next year the Academy will expand its horizons to become an international project, covering both the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The 2024 programme is about to be launched and those interested in a career in yachting will soon be able to send in their applications.
Our mission is to educate about the challenges of the yachting industry and to bring passionate individuals into the fold and guide them on their journey to becoming impeccable and dedicated yacht agents.
We also believe that the success of the Middle East superyacht market depends on the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the private sector, governments, universities, cultural foundations and international partners. We are committed to contributing to the growth and development of the region’s yachting industry and look forward to meeting the challenges and seizing the opportunities that lie ahead.
