It’s no mystery why Oman yachting is increasingly becoming a vibrant hub for superyacht enthusiasts.

Its stunning landscapes, including rugged mountains, vast deserts, and beautiful blue seas, create a magical atmosphere.  Even though it shares a border with the UAE, Oman’s rich heritage, warm and welcoming culture create a unique and enchanting experience.

As we delve into our concluding chapter of Oman’s exploration, we unveil the well-kept secret of the Daymaniyat Islands. Tucked away in the heart of the Gulf of Oman, these nine picturesque islands serve as a haven for a diverse array of marine life, featuring numerous fish species, thriving coral reefs, and even the majestic presence of whale sharks.

Considered one of the most mysterious and intriguing destinations in the Middle East, Daymaniyat Islands lie to the west of Muscat. Collectively, these islands form a nature reserve spanning a total area of 100 hectares.

The journey of protection for this marine ecosystem began in 1996 designating the area as a nature reserve. However, was initially accessible only for marine research purposes. Later the pristine beauty of the Daymaniyat Islands opened to a very restricted public. In fact, in order to preserve the islands, trips are still limited and only a few lucky yachts per year are admitted.

But with Acquera, we make the impossible possible.

Anchorage in the area is permitted with prior authorization. Plan your visit accordingly and check with local authorities to organize your journey.

Dive into paradise and swim with Whale Sharks

At the heart of the Daymaniyat Islands lies a vibrant marine ecosystem rivaling some of the best underwater paradises. Crystal-clear waters host a dazzling array of marine life, with over 100 species of vibrant coral, more than 300 species of fish including whale sharks.

Whale sharks, the world’s largest fish, can grow up to 12 meters in length and weigh as much as 20 tons. Despite their immense size, these magnificent creatures are completely harmless to humans. They’re filter feeders, gracefully sieving small plankton from the water.

Whale Shark season typically runs from September to November. During this time, these gentle giants, along with their pups, migrate to the warmer waters of the southern hemisphere in search of fish eggs, shrimp, copepods, and other delectable treats. It’s the perfect opportunity for an unforgettable encounter with them.

Anyway, at any time of the year (best time to visit these islands run from September to April for the experiencing moderate temperatures) you descend beneath the surface of Daymaniyat waters, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colors, as schools of fish swim among intricate coral formations.

Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a novice snorkeler, the Daymaniyat Islands offer a thrilling underwater adventure. Dive deep into caves, swim alongside turtles, and witness the enchanting dance of the fish in their natural habitat.

The islands are also a magnet for migratory and indigenous birds and serve as nesting grounds for sea turtles. These gentle creatures lay their eggs in the soft sands of the islands, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to witness the magic of new life as hatchlings make their way to the sea.

Remember to be a responsible traveler, help protect this unique treasure, and leave only footprints behind. So, if you’re planning your next adventure, consider the Daymaniyat Islands – a world of enchantment. Your journey to this extraordinary slice of paradise will surely be a story to tell for years to come.
